When I bought my machine a year ago it was the Innovis 1000..don't know why they changed the name to 1200, it's the same machine as far as I know.I use it a lot as embroidery and also as a sewing machine. Love the quiet stitching as opposed to other machines I've had. I've had it in for service once this past year and it ended up not to be anything major. I'm overall happy with the machine but I wish I lived closer to the dealer. I'm an hour away so I don't get in on the classes much.

I also bought the Innovis 1000, but just recently. I don't beleive that they have changed the name. I agree with beckyfisher. It is so very quiet when stitching. At this point I am only using it for embroidery.

I took a sewing class recently and the subject of metallic thread was brought up. The instructor suggested using both needles made especially for metallic threads (the needle's hole is a bit bigger than other needles) and a thread stand (helps to let the thread unwind before it goes threw your machine). I hope that helps.

I have a brother innovis 1200 and I keep having trouble with the thread breaking have tried the instruction on the book and it did not work any one got any answers for me please. I allso have a brother 1200 aswwell and love that just for sewing.

To keb1253 Have you tried using different embroidery needles, I had trouble with my machine breaking threads and found I must use quality embroidery needles.

I had problems with thread breakage, especially when using the metallic thread and I found that if I use a thread stand that allows the thread to unwind vertically off the spool it made a big difference. Now I use it for all of my threads. When the small spools get close to the end, the thread gets very kinky but putting it on the thread stand seems to straighten it out before it feeds through the machine.

I bought the Innovis 1200 about 18 months ago and I love it I did have trouble sometimes with the embroidery thread breaking when I used the Q.A. thread but most of the time it is fine. I have no trouble when using the brother thread. and I find if I change the bobin casing to the one with the pink spot on it when using other brands of bobin fill which are a bit finer it works great. I love it. Pat

by kathyrai 07 Feb 2008 The store owner where I bought my Brother innovis 1200 said use ONLY Brother(pacesetter) or the Sulky or Madeira thread to prevent breakage. In this machine, Coats and Clark does not work well. I watch the sale papers for coupons aND thread closeouts as these brands are costly!
by joaniessw 17 Mar 2008 My husky #1+ is picky too. It only likes Gutermann and Mettler. Jams up and breaks coats n other brands like nobody's business. Oh, sorry, it does like most Sulky too
by auntbaba 28 Jun 2008 I agree. Coats and Clarks embroidery thread does not work well in the Innovis machines.

to keb 123i had the same problem lossen the tension in the design program this will help

I bought a Huskvarna #1+ about 14 years ago and use it mainly for embroidery. Do have a problem with the Ultimat box card I got for it if too many stitches are on the card, other than that, no probs. It has never been in the repair shop. I can only do 4" X 4" designs til I figure out my new "Plus Hoop" I got thru e-bay (working on that right now). Everything about it is obsolete (sp), cannot get parts anymore. Any suggestions what to get next? I really want something that does larger designs without always moving hoop around. TY

I am new to machine embroidery , I bought my first brother Innovis 1200 in August last year. After many many test designs on scraps of calico, I finally plucked up the courage to embroider handtowels, well they turned out beautifully. Now all I need is more spare time to create more items. I am feel brave enough now to venture into more items. Can't wait to expand beyond the handtowels. Happy Sewing everyone....

I agree with Beckyfisher about the thread being vertical to stop it breaking. I used QA thread and found that I have to watch that it does not slip and get caught on the tip of the reel. I am using Sullivans threads and they are great - very similar to DMC colours. I used this for my baby quilt on the projects page. I love the Brother Innovis 1200 and it is quiet. I use it for sewing, embroidery and recently quilting.

Babylock Ellegante2. I just got my new embroidery machine by Babylock. best value for the money on my comparison shopping. Lots of designs, got the upgraded software package too. lots of new designs, my first new machine in 32 years! love the computerization!

I have had 2 Brother Machines, D-170 and PE 700. I was never quite happy with either. I had terrible thread breakage. I tried- 1) Change needle; 2) NO Coats and Clark; 3) silicon spray; 4) upright spool thread holder; 5) switched to Madera thread only; 6) metalic needle - Nothing helped. Each time I spoke to my dealer, they wanted to sell me something else to 'fix it.' I have BabyLock Ellageo and have few if any problems. I changed dealers too!!!

by mariahail 27 Jun 2008 I have a pe 700 and have the same problem, I think is that particular machine, I know I don't want another one like it.
by mops 03 Jul 2008 According to my dealer the Brother D190 can be quite temperamental if you use any thread other than the Brother yarn. Mine is OK with Madeira as well, but my daughter has the same model and needs Brother thread to have a work without problems.

I have had my Innovis 1200 for six months now. I started experiencing lots of problems 3 months ago - thread and needles broke, tension all wrong. I tried different threads, bobbin, tension, stabilisers etc. Nothing worked until I changed to Schmetz needles. Now all is wonderful again (touch wood!).

I have a question for anyone who knows... What is the better machine to get? The Brother 1200 or the Janome Memory Craft (I think 9500) They are about the same price and I dont know which one is better! Thanks!

I am thinking of buying the Brother Innovis 1200. I am close to a dealer that is going out of business and all sales are final, so trying to make sure it is the one I want. Just wanted to get everyone's opinion on this machine. Thanks!
